on .

It's January and that means it's time for Autosport! This year we've got some incredible show only offers and want to make sure you can find us - we will be in Hall 2, Stand 2770.

The show starts on Thursday and we are all geared up and ready to go with a brand-new simulator setup and the chance to WIN a VBOX LapTimer by setting the fastest lap.

As if that wasn't enough, by entering our prize draw you can WIN a top-of-the-range VBOX Video HD2.

Racelogic's MD, Julian Thomas, will also be delivering a technical presentation on the Talk Shop stage in Hall 3 on Friday and Saturday at 2 pm. Using examples from his own racing, Julian will be talking about advanced techniques to maximise the performance of your tyres during the critical corner entry phase. One not to be missed!

So whether you are already an experienced track addict or are just getting into Motorsport, we can guide you towards the quickest way to go faster. Head to Hall 2, Stand 2770 to find out more.

VBOX Video Setup now for Mac users

on .

VBOX Video HD2 Setup Software is now compatible with macOS, allowing you to configure your HD2 before use and create your own graphic overlays using an Apple device.

For example, you can choose to insert pre-loaded gauges and dials, add your logo, adjust the location of all elements, and even design, upload and configure your own race scenes.

The first software release does not support Maths Channel or Performance Test configuration at the moment. These functions will be implemented at a later date. You will also require macOS version 10.11 or later to use it.

New version of VBOX Video HD2 Setup software

on .

This week we have released a new version of VBOX Video HD2 Setup software (1.4.b245) which include a lot of new features and various bug fixes.

Here’s a list of what is new:

  • Support/Setup for the new CAN Gateway product
  • Ability to log 80 CAN channels
  • Undo/Redo feature during scene design setup (screenshot below)
  • Advanced logging (details below)
  • Raw CAN logging
  • Multiplexed CAN support (details below)
  • Element x,y location input (details below)

Undo/Redo Feature

These two buttons can be found at the bottom of the software window, allowing you to reverse a move.

Advanced logging

AVBHD2Setup advanced loogingdvanced logging allows you to set the start and stop logging options based on external parameters like RPM or wheel speed. It can be accessed via the logging mode drop down menu, located in general data logging options.

For example, here's what to do if you wanted the logging to start once the wheel speed is greater than 15 kmh.

Click Settings in the top left hand corner of the screen, then click General and select Logging from the menu options. Set the logging mode to Advanced.

VBHD2Setup start logging option1) Select a parameter to control the logging - in this case: Vehicle Wheel Speed via CAN.

2) Select the condition to be “Greater than”.

3) Select the value of the parameter which will trigger the logging. We are using a wheel speed channel in kmh, therefore entering a value of 15 equates to 15 kmh.

4) "Time for true" allows the user to define a time delay in seconds, after the start or stop logging criteria has been met.

For this example, if we enter 2.0, this would mean logging would begin after the wheel speed signal has been greater than 15 kmh for 2s.

Multiplexed CAN Support

The VBOX HD2 is now compatible with the multiplexed CAN format.

Multiplexing a CAN channel allows different messages to be transmitted in the same CAN channel, in the same location, depending on the multiplexor value. One message in the CAN channel is used as a multiplexor, usually the first byte, and the remaining payload is read depending on the multiplexor signal.

Element X,Y Location Input

You can now manually set an element’s position in the scene instead of drag-and-dropping it using your mouse.

New VBOX Video HD2 firmware

on .

Today we’ve released a new version of HD2 firmware, 1.3.74. This fixes an issue where the unit would sometimes not log, adds support for 80 CAN channels, and has a couple of track related fixes/changes – a more detailed list can be found in the history notes.

Please note, for configuring 80 CAN channels a newer version of VBOX Video Setup software is needed, this will be released at a later date.

The firmware is available here.

Tyre Temp Sensors

We are excited to soon be supplying tyre temperature sensors for use with the HD2. They'll be available at the end of this month and allow you to log tyre temps throughout track sessions, so that you can make setup adjustments accordingly. See an example video below.

There are two types of sensor: 120 and 60 degree fields of view. Quote RLACS272-120 or RLACS272-60 to your dealer for price and availability.

HD2 Second Car Kit

This was a popular product for the Video VBOX Lite so we thought we'd put together the same thing for the HD2. It comprises power cable, roll-cage mounts, antenna, microphone, and a pair of cameras - just swap the actual recording unit between cars. Available now from the eStore or your local distributor - product code is RLACS274.

Mounting Options

These mounting brackets allow for fitment either to a roll bar, or a quick-release option installed onto your own metal or plastic sheet. In both cases there's protection on the inner surfaces to stop the HD2 from being scratched. Available now from the store - the quick release mount is RLACS258, the bar mount RLACS268.

Camera Extension PoleCamera Extension Bar

If you're struggling to get the forward-facing camera in the right position to allow for a good view of the track, this extension bar should help.

It brings the camera down below the sun strip and gives you a much bigger view out through the windscreen - avoiding that "letterbox" look - and it will fit on any mount with a standard 1/4"in UNC thread.

Due in around the beginning of July - available to pre-order from your local distributor with product code RLACS273.
